This film was produced at the behest of Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi Minister of Propaganda. Despite this family connection, Stanley Kubrick's Jewish family accepted her, and they were married for over 40 years. Christiane was also a member of the Hitler Youth in her younger years. Her brother, Jan Harlan, worked with Stanley Kubrick as an executive producer on several of his films.
